Stemilt Team Places Third At Inaugural Live 4 Adventure Race

WENATCHEE, Wash. – A team of three Stemilt employees took home 3rd place in the corporate division at the inaugural Live 4 Adventure Race held on May 21st in Wenatchee, WA. In addition to earning bronze medals, the Stemilt Ladybugs earned $250 in prize money for Wenatchee High School, the local school that they chose to support prior to the race.

Rhonda Couch, Amber Rae Harris, and Carrie Couch were the three Stemilt employees on the corporate team. The three work together at the company’s Miller Street facility.

“We enjoyed all aspects of the Live 4 Adventure race and are already looking forward to participating next year,” said Rhonda Couch, computer operator at Miller and captain of the

Stemilt Ladybugs team. “It was fun to represent our company and help give back to the community in which we live and love.”

Live 4 Adventure was a brand new race that was open to people of all ages. The multi-stage race was modeled after the hit TV shows Minute to Win It and Wipe Out and included a cardiovascular stage, sport/games stage, and an obstacle course. Stemilt sponsored the Sport/Game Skills Stage and had several employees turned out to volunteer.

According to Stemilt’s director of corporate responsibility, Courtney Mathison, the Live 4 Adventure race fit well with the company’s focus on fitness and health.

“The Live 4 Adventure Race was a great family event that allowed people to participate in a series of fun and challenging activities. From paddling a kayak to racing through an obstacle course, it was a great way to show families in our community that there are many different ways to stay active,” Mathison said.

For its inaugural year, Live 4 Adventure had 40 teams and 120 participants. The purpose of the race was to raise money for local schools via the Wenatchee Valley Sports Foundation, which works to improve and expand sports and athletic opportunities for the Wenatchee Valley. The top three teams in each of 9 divisions earned money for the school of their choice. In total, $18,000 in prize money was given out to benefit physical fitness and athletics at local schools.
