Taste Me Do Good* Apples & Pears Promote Social Responsibility & Sustainable Production

Brooklyn, NY –  Retailers are welcoming the arrival of TASTE ME DO GOOD* apples and pears poised to not only offer great tasting varieties but also provide plenty of stories to peak customer interest. TASTE ME DO GOOD* pears and apples are grown using traditional methods that maximize nutrients in the soil – and therefore in the fruit as well – by working in harmony with the earth's cycles. First apple arrivals (in mid-April) include Galas, followed by Cripps, Granny Smith, and Red Delicious varieties. Volume for pears, already available, is forecast as good with varieties including Bartletts, Packhams and Shinko Asian pears.

TASTE ME DO GOOD* Social and Fairtrade premiums will continue to support community projects in education, health, and housing and community services. In past seasons, workers have chosen to donate important supplies, such as pillows and blankets, to their local hospital and purchase bicycles for workers who, without the bikes, were forced to walk long distances to and from work.

Michela Calabrese, stakeholder director at Interrupcion explains, "Our products strengthen the connection between consumers and the producers, and guarantee the relationship is mutually beneficial. The TASTE ME DO GOOD* brand offers authenticity, sincerity, and transparency in a market environment where customers are more inquisitive then ever."

TASTE ME DO GOOD* provides a diverse selection of in-store merchandising and online tools to support retailers in connecting the vital stories behind the products to customers. "We support our customers with shippers, customized POP, social media content, and press support," says Calabrese. "For example, Interrupcion is partnering with The Fresh Market for an April promotion of Fair Trade Organic Bartletts. Shelf-talkers and printed bulk boxes are part of the plan to catch customers' attention in the produce department while collaborative social media efforts will continue the dialogue outside the store."
