Third Annual Mango Mania Display Contest Commences In July

Orlando, Fla. – The National Mango Board (NMB) is calling on mango shippers for their help to encourage small retailers to participate in their third annual Mango Mania Display Contest throughout the month of July. The contest is designed specifically for individual stores or small chains with up to 50 stores to help boost their mango sales, all while showcasing their creativity and educating shoppers about mangos. More than $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to 27 winning produce department managers. All entries must be received at the NMB office by Aug. 19, 2013.

All displays must be in place for at least seven days between July 1 and July 31, 2013 in order to qualify for the prizes. To make it easier for retailers to get involved, the NMB has made the point of sale (POS) kit order form and the entry form available online at www.mango.org/contest. “We’ve seen great participation from retailers in the past, and we wanted to streamline the process to encourage even more retailers to get involved. Participating in the contest can help increase their sales and educate consumers about this delicious tropical fruit,” said NMB Marketing Director Megan McKenna.

Prizes will be awarded by the NMB in three store categories: one to five registers, six to nine registers and ten registers or more. In each category, nine prizes will be available, including $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, and $200 each for six honorable mention winners. Retailers who wish to participate should visit www.mango.org/contest to get more information about the contest and order POS kits for their stores. The kit includes the contest flyer with the official rules along with several pieces of point-of-sale material, such as educational header cards for selecting and cutting, nutrition information and mango recipes.

Mango suppliers can help by telling their retailers about the contest and ordering POS kits for them at www.mango.org/contest.
