WP Rawl Hires New Senior Quality Assurance Manager

Pelion, SC: WP Rawl, the largest grower, processor and shipper of leafy greens in the US, announced today that Nancy Shimabukuro has filled the position of senior quality assurance manager, effective immediately.

Nancy Shimabukuro’s background is in quality assurance and she holds a master of science in food science from Clemson University. In her new position, she is responsible for managing the quality assurance and sanitation departments, and maintaining quality assurance and sanitation budgetary compliance. Shimabukuro will also ensure successful completions of all second and third party audits and support WP Rawl’s new product development process. Additionally, she will manage microbiological testing procedures and protocols and provide technical support to the field operations department.

Shimabukuro previously held the same position at WP Rawl but had taken an extended sabbatical to tend to personal family business. Her extensive knowledge and attention to detail while in the position previously were more than enough for the company to jump at the opportunity to rehire her when the position became vacant.

“Nancy has always been a great asset to our team and we couldn’t be happier to have her back,” said Ashley Rawl, vice president of sales, marketing and product development at WP Rawl. “With our new expansion in full swing, it is very important to us that our food safety and quality assurance practices are stronger than ever.”

It wasn’t just Rawl that was ecstatic at the prospect of rehiring Shimabukuro, she was equally delighted by the opportunity to return.

“Coming back to WP Rawl is like coming home,” said Shimabukuro. “It is very important to me to be part of a company that puts its customers’ quality and safety at the forefront so this was once again a great fit.”
