BJ’s Wholesale Club Now Accepts SNAP via Instacart for Same-Day Delivery

SAN FRANCISCO and MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Instacart (NASDAQ: CART), the leading grocery technology company in North America, and BJ’s Wholesale Club (NYSE: BJ), a leading operator of membership warehouse clubs, today announced that Electronic Benefits Transfer for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (EBT SNAP) can now be used to buy groceries on the Instacart App and website for delivery in as fast as an hour across BJ’s 238 clubs. BJ’s is the first club retailer to accept SNAP via Instacart.

BJ’s customers can enter their SNAP card information as a form of payment on their Instacart profile, making it easy to use SNAP benefits when shopping on Instacart. They can also split the payment at checkout and use both their SNAP card and other payment methods to complete their weekly shop in one order.

“We’re committed to providing convenience and value to our members, and we’re excited to offer our members the ability to use their SNAP benefits through the full suite of shopping options at BJ’s, including online, in-club and now through Instacart,” said Monica Schwartz, Chief Digital Officer, BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We know our members can face shopping challenges, such as transportation and accessibility issues, so we are thrilled to provide an additional way for members to shop using SNAP through Instacart.”

“Our mission is to create a world where everyone has access to the food they love, and we’ve witnessed the transformative impact grocery delivery can have on expanding access to nutritious food,” said Sarah Mastrorocco, Vice President and General Manager of Instacart Health. “SNAP recipients tell us that grocery delivery helps stretch their food budgets while saving them time. Through our partnership with BJ’s, we’re excited to offer families a more convenient way to get the fresh groceries and essential pantry staples they need.”

Instacart is the first and only online grocery marketplace to accept SNAP in all 50 states and Washington D.C. Instacart offers online SNAP acceptance from more than 120 retail banners across more than 10,000 stores, more than any other online grocery marketplace. Instacart reaches nearly 95% of U.S. households enrolled in SNAP.
