Congressional Seafood Aims To Beef Up Sourcing Info

One of the Washington region's largest seafood suppliers is teaming up with fishermen and restaurants to give the public more information about its food sources.

Congressional Seafood, based in Jessup, Md., will begin providing information on its seafood suppliers to its restaurant customers using QR codes — digital codes like the one shown at right that redirect a user to a website with additional information.

Congressional's customers, including many restaurants throughout the D.C. area, will be able to print those codes on their menus, post stickers with the codes on fish cases in their markets or use them however they see fit, according to Tim Sughrue, vice president of the company.
