Dole Buys Stake In Healthy Treat Maker, Plans Commercial Grade Model For Foodservice

Westlake Village-based Dole Food Company Inc. announced it is buying an equity stake in Healthy Foods, LLC, which makes a device that can transform fruit into a dessert that has the consistency of soft-serve ice cream.

Healthy Foods, a division of Cleveland-based Winston Products, makes a treat maker called yonanas, which currently retails for $49.99. Dole recognized that there was a huge market potential in the treat-maker, which uses only fruit to create a delicious and healthy desert.

The two companies plan to rebrand the device as Dole-yonanas. It will be sold through Target, Sears, Bed Bath & Beyond, and other retailers.
