Philanthropist Jane Golub Dies at 80

CAPITAL REGION — Longtime Niskayuna resident Jane Golub — a philanthropist, teacher and contributor to her family’s supermarket business — died Tuesday afternoon.

In an email note to friends, Neil Golub said his wife “passed peacefully” at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at 3:29 p.m., Pacific time.

The Golubs have been major influences in the Price Chopper/Market 32 supermarket chain. Neil Golub is currently executive chairman of the board of The Golub Corporation, the chain’s parent company.
