The Charleston-based company that operated a chain of Piggly Wiggly stores for 67 years plans to exit the supermarket industry and, ultimately, its other businesses.
Greenbax Enterprises Inc., the privately owned parent of Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co., is seeking approval from shareholders to approve the sale of its retail and wholesale grocery businesses by the end of the year and to dissolve the company entirely within the next three years.
