‘Rosie’ Wants To Offer You A More Personalized Grocery Delivery Experience

In a world in which Amazon, Google and other tech giants are getting involved in supermarket delivery, Rosie aims to make food delivery a little more personal.

The supermarket delivery startup based at startup accelerator MassChallenge has developed software that lets everyone from a mom-and-pop grocer to a regional supermarket chain offer delivery or in-store pickup. Unlike well-funded Instacart— which offers grocery delivery via freelance shoppers in 15 cities, including Boston — Rosie offers its software to markets and lets the employees of the markets do the shopping and delivery.

"We're the only company that is actually partnering with the stores," said Jon Ambrose, Rosie's co-founder and COO, who founded Rosie with fellow student Nick Nickitas two years ago while both were MBA students at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y. "Trained store employees are picking the items."
