RPA Accepting Submissions For Third Annual Excellence In Reusable Packaging Award

Arlington, Va. – The Reusable Packaging Association is accepting submissions for its third annual Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award. The award, sponsored by International Contract Molding, LLC, (ICM) an Otto Company, recognizes companies that have developed, supported, or implemented measurable and innovative reusable solutions in a business-to-business supply chain.  Non-members as well as members of the RPA are encouraged to enter. Submissions will be reviewed by an independent committee of judges who are not members of the RPA.

“We strongly encourage end users and suppliers from all industries to enter the competition,” said Jerry Welcome, President of the RPA. “It’s a great way to get recognition for your sustainability initiatives, and to share your experiences with other companies that are interested in implementing or expanding their use of reusable products and services.”

The deadline for submissions is June 13, 2014. Eligible companies must have participated in the reusable packaging industry as of September 1, 2013. Companies will be judged on the quantifiable environmental and economic benefits of their reusable packaging solutions and services. Each company that completes a submission will receive a free one-year membership to the Reusable Packaging Association.

Past winners are Finelite (2013) which is saving $28,000 annually in costs and eliminating 25,000 pounds of waste annually; and Herman Miller Inc. (2012) for its reusable packaging initiative that is saving the company $46,000 annually in material and labor.

Submission forms are available at the RPA website http://reusables.org/3346/general/2014-rpa-excellence-in-reusable-packaging-award

The award is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Reusable Packaging Machinery Institute (PMMI) and StopWaste.Org.
