Shop ‘N Save Franchisee Selling Four Western PA Stores

Jim and Jeff Sorbara, members of a family who have long operated Shop 'n Save grocery stores in the region, are selling two-thirds of their holdings in western Pennsylvania, according to a company announcement.

Supervalu, the Minnesota-based wholesaler that operates the Shop 'n Save store brand in the region, said the Sorbaras have opted to sell four of their six stores. They will keep their stores in Cranberry and Heidelberg, but the Sorbaras will sell two stores to another Shop 'n Save operator in the region and the other two to competing chain Giant Eagle.

The Sorbaras, who have faced conflicts with their major wholesaler in the past, have also sold their stores in Kennedy Township and South Fayette to Giant Eagle.
