Syracuse’s Oldest Grocery Store Unveils $2.65M Renovation

After a 2.65-million dollar renovation, Syracuse's oldest grocery store is officially ready to unveil its updates and new offerings to the public.

For 95 years Nojaim Bros. Supermarket has served the West Side community in Syracuse. As the neighborhood shifted around the grocer, Nojaim remained a staple in an area that's seen numerous retailers board up and leave over the years. For many, the supermarket is the sole convenient option for fresh produce and the only thing pulling the near-West Side out of Syracuse's urban food desert.

"There's fresh produce and fresh meats. Other stores are further out of the area so it's nice to have it right in the neighborhood," explained Marc Pinkett, who can walk to Nojaim, but would have to travel several miles to reach another grocery store.
