US Foods Plans Cold Storage & Regional Ops Facility Near Sacramento

A major U.S. food distributor has purchased 35 newly cleaned-up acres at McClellan Park, with plans to build a 500,000-square-foot facility employing 250 to 300.

Rosemont, Ill.-based US Foods – which bills itself as the nation's 10th largest private company, with about 25,000 employees and nearly $19 billion in annual revenue – plans to build a cold storage facility that will serve as a regional operations center.

US Foods operates out of 60 sites nationwide, and its supplier history can be traced back to the California Gold Rush era in the 1850s.

Chelsea DeWeese, a spokeswoman for McClellan Park, said US Foods has not yet set a timetable for construction of the planned facility.
