Viableware Named A Finalist For The NRA 2014 Operator Innovations Awards

KIRKLAND, Wash.– Viableware, innovators of the RAIL – a pay-at-the-table solution designed exclusively for full-service restaurants – today announced that it has been named a Finalist for the 2014 Operator Innovations Awards from the National Restaurant Association (NRA), the leading business association for the restaurant industry. Viableware is one of three Finalists in the Technology category vying for Innovator of the Year – which will be announced live in Chicago during the NRA Show (May 17-20).

“Being recognized by the NRA as a finalist for the Operator Innovations Awards is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the unique value that the RAIL payment platform offers full-service restaurants and their guests,” said Joe Snell, CEO of Viableware. “The RAIL gives restaurants an opportunity to provide their guests with a fully secure payment experience and at the same time greatly enhance their level of personalized service.”The RAIL is a handheld device designed to look like the traditional bill presentation folder used at most full-service restaurants – but unlike the original, the RAIL will accept EMV payments, allow guests to securely self-swipe credit or debit cards, auto-calculate the tip, split the bill multiple ways, pay-by-item, and receive email receipts.

Dickie Brennan restaurants in New Orleans – including The Palace Café and Tableau – are among the first to introduce the RAIL payment platform to their guests.

“Using the RAIL devices, we’ve been able to provide our guests with a more private and secure payment experience – one that allows them to keep their card with them at all times,” said Dickie Brennan, owner of Dickie Brennan restaurants. “Additionally, our overall service is enhanced because our wait staff is able to spend more time providing personalized attention, and less time running credit cards to the POS.”

The RAIL seamlessly integrates with leading restaurant POS systems from MICROS, NCR Aloha, and Dinerware and has been certified to the security standards of 11 of the leading payment processors.
