The Association of Seafood Producers in Canada says the price of crab is likely to drop this year, as the group prepares to enter negotiations with the fisheries union.
"Even though we have seen increases in the price of seafood, I don't think it's sustainable at the levels it was last year," executive director Derek Butler told CBC News.
Last year, crab prices were set at $2.15 per pound — 80 cents higher than the beginning of the 2010 season.
Butler warns that the 2011 price is unrealistic now.
