DMR To Close Shrimping Season At Midnight On Jan. 15

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is closing shrimping season for Mississippi territorial waters north of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Friday, Jan. 14, is the last day to shrimp in waters north of the ICW. Mississippi territorial waters south of the Intracoastal Waterway will remain open through April 2011.

All regulations set forth in Mississippi State Statute and titles of the DMR are to be in full force and effect, and all boats engaged in catching or transporting shrimp in or from Mississippi waters must be legally licensed. All other Mississippi waters will remain closed to shrimping.
