CHARLESTON — The Oregon Dungeness Crab fishery is a cyclical one, meaning it has its share of up-and-down seasons. This year is going to be one of the latter.
Hugh Link, executive director of the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, said this week that the quality of crab remains high, but the quantity is lacking.
“It's definitely not a banner year. Our landings right now are at about 6.5 million pounds, as of Friday, maybe a few more since the weekend. That's for the whole state. Last year, our total landings for the whole year were 14.3 million pounds.”
