Fresh Seafood Still Available From Mississippi Factories

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) – Fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico is still being sold at warehouses along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Retailers say it's just not as plentiful as it was prior to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Today, a shipment of oysters arrived at Desporte and Sons Seafood on Division Street in Biloxi. Every time a truckload of seafood is unloaded at a back bay factory, plant employees have a chance to earn some money.

Since the BP oil spill last month, fishermen and oystermen have worried about making a living.

According to factory managers, employees hours have been significantly cut back in recent days, because the oil spill has made it difficult for fishermen to fill their vessels with fresh seafood.
