Gorton's Eyes New Production, Job Growth

Gorton's of Gloucester, the global fish processing plant that's a bonafide part of the city's history and heritage, plans to build a new processing line at its headquarters on Rogers Street.

The addition, says Dave Weber, the company's vice president of operations, will create 30 new positions when it's fully up and running.

"We've decided to make a major investment in Gloucester that will increase production and will add jobs to the plant as it becomes operational over the next year and a half." said Weber.

The company will also pursue state tax credits to build the new production line, which he expects to cost around $10 million. To do so, said Weber, Gorton's needs a city investment.
