Ocean Fresh Seafood Accountant Charged In Fraud Case

NORTH ATTLEBORO – The accountant of now defunct Ocean Fresh Seafood was charged in federal court Thursday with concealing a scheme to defraud a division of Wells Fargo Bank of at least $7 million, the latest in a string of defendants pointing to an alleged web of high-stakes deceit.

Fred Guarino, 62 of Rehoboth was charged in connection with his alleged role in covering up fraudulent financial dealings with Wells Fargo Business Credit by Ocean Fresh's owner Robert Coutu and others.

The formal charge levied against Guarino was misprision of a felony. Misprison means having knowledge of a federal crime and failing to report it.

Guarino did not answer the phone at his East Providence office Thursday.
