Rep. Boone Urges Congress To Support Oregon Seafood

SALEM — The Oregon House of Representatives passed House Joint Memorial 3, urging the U.S. Congress to support the marketing of Oregon seafood. The fishing economy is vital to the Oregon Coast, especially the North Coast region between Astoria and Tillamook.

“With 80 percent of our country’s seafood coming from foreign countries, we need to do all we can to encourage domestic production of this important and delicious resource,” Rep. Deborah Boone (D—Cannon Beach) said. “Urging Congress to support the Oregon seafood economy is only the first step.”

The memorial now moves to the Senate for consideration.
