Boston, MA – The 2012 Seafood Excellence Awards winners were announced at the International Boston Seafood Show/Seafood Processing America. Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK Ltd. won the “Best New Retail” award for their WildWaters Gravadlax ‘Limoncello’, and Dish Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. won the “Best New Foodservice” award for their Oriental Shrimp Nest.
Winners were selected from a group of ten finalists during a live judging by a panel of seafood buyers and experts from the retail and foodservice industries. This year’s judges included Butch Vidrine, Senior Manager, Seafood for Sysco; Eric Caron, Research and Development Chef, Uno’s Chicago Grill, and Tony Ruccio, Director of Merchandising, Seafood, King’s Super Markets.
Finalists were previously selected through a screening of products participating in the 2012 International Boston Seafood Show New Product Showcase. The New Product Showcase features seafood products, condiments and culinary dishes launched by exhibiting companies.
The Seafood Excellence Awards serve to recognize the product leaders in the North American seafood market.
Co-located with Seafood Processing America, the International Boston Seafood Show is North America’s largest seafood trade event, drawing 18,000 buyers and sellers from more than 120 countries and over 1,000 exhibiting companies.
