'Shrimp & Pasta Party' Campaign Drives Shrimp Consumption During Lent

McLEAN, Va. – To support one of the shrimp industry’s biggest selling seasons – Lent – the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Shrimp Council has been boosting shrimp cravings through a special blogger campaign with partner Calphalon®, the leader in premium cookware and kitchenware.

The “Shrimp & Pasta Party” campaign teamed up The NFI Shrimp Council, Calphalon and a quartet of well-known and influential food bloggers, who each created a shrimp and pasta dish perfect for the season.

“We’ve conducted some research that shows that one of America’s favorite ways to enjoy shrimp is with pasta,” said Judy Dashiell, Sr. Vice President of NFI. “By partnering with Calphalon and some very creative food bloggers, the Shrimp Council has been able to capitalize on this delicious food pairing. The Shrimp & Pasta Party campaign has effectively helped keep shrimp top-of-mind during Lent.”

Shrimp & Pasta Party 2015 has included posts by the following bloggers:

–       Damn Delicious

–       Lauren’s Latest

–       Iowa Girl Eats

–       Crème de la Crumb

Kitchen Creations with Calphalon

To help demonstrate shrimp’s versatility and ease of preparation, each participating blogger was equipped with four contemporary nonstick and dishwasher-safe Calphalon products that help make cooking at home a breeze:

–       Calphalon® Contemporary Nonstick 2-pc Fry Pan Set

–       Calphalon® Contemporary Nonstick 3.5 qt. Pour and Strain Sauce Pan

–       Calphalon® Stainless Steel Utensils Silicone Tipped Tongs

–       Calphalon® Nylon Utensils 2-pc Small Slotted Spoon and Turner Set

The bloggers then got busy in the kitchen, whipping up impressive shrimp and pasta dishes ranging from Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta and Garlic Mushroom and Zucchini Pasta with Shrimp to Spicy Shrimp Pasta with Creamy Tomato Sauce and Shrimp Asparagus Carbonara.

“The initiative of our food bloggers has been an inspiration to our online followers. These experts have shown the Shrimp Council’s target audiences that at-home cooking can be both delicious and easy – especially when you’re featuring shrimp cooked with high-quality Calphalon products,” Dashiell said. “We also understand that these craveable recipe images drive consumers to order shrimp more often when they are dining out.”

Through a combination of blog post readership and accompanying social media engagement, the online Shrimp & Pasta Party campaign garnered more than 4.5 million impressions in February and March.
