US Sen. Brown: Whole Foods Policy Hurts Fishermen

BOSTON — US Sen. Scott Brown is asking Whole Foods to reconsider a decision to no longer sell seafood it doesn't consider sustainable.

In a letter to Whole Foods co-CEOs John Mackey and Walter Robb Monday, Brown said the decision has more to do with political correctness than sound reasoning.

Whole Foods President A.C. Gallo said the company is so committed to the region it set up its own Gloucester seafood processing facility in 1996 and has found enough Massachusetts fishermen to meet the company's needs for responsibly-caught seafood.
