Virginia’s Season Starts With Fewer Crabbers

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va.- The start of the crabbing season in Virginia also coincides with the one-year anniversary of a young waterman.

Twenty-one-year-old Thomas Wells of Chincoteague said he was lucky enough to buy a license to crab from a veteran last year. He threw pots for the blue bottom-dwellers into cold waters.

"I like it a lot," Well said of his new lifestyle. "It's so peaceful (on the water)."
