Grower-Shipper Association of Central California Appoints 2024 Board Members

As recently ratified by its regular (i.e., grower, shipper, processor, landowner, harvester) membership, the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) elected four new members to its Board of Directors: Kiana Amaral, Chief Operating Officer, BlazerWilkinsonGee, Chris Drew, President & CEO, Ocean Mist Farms, Carmen Ponce, Vice President and General Counsel of Labor, Tanimura and Antle, and Matt Rogers, Co-Founder and General Manager of AgSocio.

GSA’s INSV/PW Task Force, Impacts On Lettuce Supply

There has been recent attention on the limited supplies of lettuce and leafy greens. The supply issue has been largely attributed to crop damage associated with an aggressive pest and disease complex of INSV and soil-borne diseases.

Grower-Shipper Association of Central California Posthumously Honors Dennis Caprara with E.E ‘Gene’ Harden Award

At its Fall Recognition Event held on Friday, October 7, the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) posthumously awarded Dennis Caprara with the E.E. ‘Gene’ Harden Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given to an individual who’s made an extraordinary contribution and created a lasting legacy benefitting Central Coast agriculture. The award was presented to Dennis’ wife Janice and the Caprara family.

GSA Appoints New Officers, Board Members

The Grower-Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) recently appointed Victor Ramirez of NorCal Harvesting as its new Vice-Chair and Greg Beach of Steinbeck Country Produce as its Secretary. In addition, Chad Amaral, Vice President, D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of California, Kristina Nunes, Food Safety and Sustainability Director, The Nunes Company. and John Wilkinson, Co-Founder, Blazer Wilkinson LP were appointed to the GSA Board of Directors.

GSA Expands Farm Worker COVID-Prevention Training Program to Yuma

Replicating another of its Salinas Valley programs, the Grower Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) has established a COVID-19 training prevention program for food facility and farm employees in the Yuma in cooperation with the Regional Center for Border Health clinic.
