Two Floats Bring California Flowers Back To Rose Parade

For the 123rd Rose Parade, “Cal Poly to the Rescue” (pictured above), a float created by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Pomona students, and “Timeless Fun for Everyone” (pictured at the top of the post with Janice Vann applying flax seeds), a float sponsored by the California Clock Co., will be decorated entirely with flowers, grasses, seeds and grains harvested in state.

Mayesh Debuts Its 2012 Video Series, Featuring Mandy Majerik

Study Highlights Changes In The Meat Case

The National Meat Case Study is completed every three years, with funding from the beef checkoff, the pork checkoff and Sealed Air/Cryovac. The study provides a comprehensive look at how meat is merchandised in the retail case – with a look at product carried and information provided on the label or in the case. 2010 was the fourth time this audit was conducted, so shifts that have occurred since the initial audit in 2002 can be analyzed.

Leucadia National Corporation Completes Acquisition Of Control Of National Beef

Leucadia National Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in National Beef Packing Company, LLC (“National Beef”), one of the largest beef processing companies in the Unites States. National Beef processes, packages and delivers fresh and frozen beef and beef by-products for sale to customers in the U.S. and international markets. The transaction was previously announced on December 5, 2011.

Moo & Oink Name Bought As Stores Shuttered, Brand To Live On

Moo & Oink, the shuttered retail meat company, will live on in name only as a minority owned company acquired the former store’s brand and other intellectual property for $530,000 during a public sale of the 30-year-old company last week.
