These days, grocery stores are our de facto home kitchens, too, turning out hot meals that, when combined with all other prepared supermarket foods, account for billions of dollars in sales. Yes, that’s billions with a “b,” as in “big boatload of bucks.”

Arla Foods Canada Recalls Mauri Brand Gorgonzola

Arla Foods Canada has issued a voluntary recall for imported Mauri Brand Gorgonzola Cheese supplied from Emilio Mauri S.p.A in Italy effective immediately. Low levels of Listeria monocytogenes were detected in samples of Mauri Gorgonzola Cheese which were recalled on February 25.

Omaha's Roberts Dairy Expanding Facility For More Products

Roberts Dairy is expanding its facilities to make room for new products. Located near 29th and Cuming Streets, the Omaha-based dairy is expanding bottling facilities for the addition of plastic half pint and pint lines. Completion is expected by late spring 2013.

Oakhurst Dairy Raises $20K For The Salvation Army Through Egg Nog Campaign

Oakhurst Dairy, northern New England’s largest independent family-owned dairy company, announced today that its 13th annual Egg Nog campaign to support The Salvation Army of Northern New England raised $20,000. Through this annual fundraising initiative, Oakhurst donates five cents for every container of Egg Nog sold during the holiday season. To date, the company has donated more than $220,000 from the sale of over four million containers of Oakhurst Egg Nog products to The Salvation Army of Northern New England.

FDA Finally To Consider IDFA/NMPF Petition On Flavored Milk

Nearly four years ago, IDFA and the National Milk Producers Federation filed a citizen's petition with the Food and Drug Administration requesting a modification of the standards for milk and other dairy products to allow the use of non-nutritive sweeteners. Just this week, FDA published the petition in the Federal Register along with the agency's request for public comment.
