Stew Leonard’s Will Open its First N.J. Grocery Store This Fall

Stew Leonard’s will bring its animatronic characters and farm fresh groceries to Paramus this fall in its first-ever Garden State food store.

Work on the new location, inside the Paramus Park Mall, will begin ceremoniously on Friday with a ground-breaking. Stew Leonard’s will occupy an 80,000 square foot anchor position in the 45-year-old mall that had previously been a Sears, until last year.

The store will create more than 350 jobs, have the company’s signature animatronic characters performing for shoppers, the truly singular one-way aisle that weaves through the store, a from-scratch bakery, cut-to-order butcher shop, a fresh seafood department and a kitchen where, throughout the day, a 50-person culinary team will prepare hot foods for catering and a buffet bar. The store will also offer refrigerated meals to go, according to a statement from the company.
