LAKELAND, Fla.– Publix Super Markets Inc. announced it has signed a lease for a third store in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. The store will be located at the southwest quadrant of the intersection of Matthews Mint Hill Road and Lawyers Road in Charlotte.
The shopping center, Mint Hill Commons, will feature a 49,000-square-foot Publix supermarket as well as other shops and restaurants. The project also includes a drive-thru pharmacy. The grand opening date for Mint Hill Commons will depend on several factors, including permitting and completion of the store’s construction; however, the opening is tentatively planned for late 2014.
“The excitement of our associates continues to grow as we look forward to sharing the Publix spirit with our new North Carolina family,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “As company owners our associates are passionately focused on delivering the highest level of service and award-winning private label products in all of our stores.”
Publix announced its first two North Carolina locations in 2012:
• in Ballantyne, located at Providence Road West and Johnston Road, opening in early 2014 and
• in Greater Charlotte, located at the intersection of South Boulevard and Iverson Way, opening in late 2014.
Publix continues to aggressively look for additional locations throughout the state of North Carolina as it looks to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities it will serve.
Publix is privately owned and operated by its 160,000 employees, with 2012 sales of $27.5 billion. Currently Publix has 1,072 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
