Lipari Foods Recalls Sunflower Seeds & Snack Mixes For Possible Health Risk

Lipari Foods of Warren, MI is recalling Raw Sunflower Seeds, Roasted Sunflower Seeds and Snack Mixes, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Cracker Barrel Will Have To Wait To Learn Fate Of Grocery Market Plan

The future of Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores Inc.’s plans to branch into the grocery market could be decided in a Chicago courtroom next week. The Lebanon-based restaurant and retail chain wants to broaden its portfolio of branded packaged food items — mainly hams and other meats — and start selling them through supermarkets, club stores and other retailers. But food giant Kraft Foods is suing to block the move.
