MASON CITY – It's easy to see how cake decorating might get in your blood.
How steady can you hold your hand when creating intricate lace work on a cake, like Kristin Becker of Charles City Hy-Vee managed to do on Tuesday?
Donna Basener of Hy-Vee East in Mason City was able to form a dress on a dress form with vertical folds that staggered your ability to figure out "how she did it."
That ability to take some bits of frosting and create beautiful images brings designers back, year after year, to the annual Hy-Vee Cake Designer Challenge, held at Southbridge Mall.
