Consolidated Biscuit Bought By Illinois Firm

McCOMB, Ohio — Consolidated Biscuit Co., a maker of cookies, crackers, and other snacks, said yesterday it has been acquired by Hearthside Food Solutions, a Downers Grove, Ill., manufacturer of specialty food products.

Based in McComb and owned by Toledo businessman Jim Appold, Consolidated said Hearthside will keep all of its newly acquired employees and maintain all baking facilities, which are in McComb, Chattanooga, Tenn., Michigan City, Ind., London, Ky., and Wilmar, Minn., along with a packaging operation in Toledo. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Hearthside, which has baking facilities in Grand Rapids, Mich., has about 1,500 employees and four baking plants.
