Illinois Bakery's Products Find Way To Grocery Shelves

CRYSTAL LAKE – The reason El Molino Azul Bakery can offer such a wide range of items is that nearly every day the staff is in back mixing new recipes or tweaking old ones.

“Every day is a challenge,” said owner Marcelo Tavares Dias.

That’s the way Tavares Dias and the rest of the team at El Molino like it. Tavares Dias started the business about a year ago with his wife, Mizrain Yeverino, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Manuel and Elizabeth Yeverino.

The Hispanic bakery opened a year ago and makes everything from traditional Mexican breads and pastries to desserts like cookies and flan. El Molino sells to individuals from a small building in downtown Crystal Lake, but its products are increasingly moving to the shelves of local grocers like Joseph’s Market and Jo Caputo & Sons.
