King's Hawaiian Shared True Aloha Spirit With Los Angeles Families In Need

TORRANCE, Calif. — As the holiday season approaches, King’s Hawaiian is honored to share its Aloha Spirit, an expression of mutual hospitality, kindness and generosity that is part of the Hawaiian culture, with the community. King’s Hawaiian hosted the first-ever “Spirit of Aloha” feast for over 200 individuals and families in need. At the event, King’s Hawaiian also announced a donation of $10,000 and 12,000 King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank with 6,000 Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls going straight to Eastmont Community Center.

The King’s Hawaiian “Spirit of Aloha” feast took place on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Eastmont Community Center in East Los Angeles. The feast included delicious Hawaiian dishes such as hulihuli chicken and klua pork, as well as festive Hawaiian music, beautiful Hawaiian floral decorations and, of course, the famous King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls.

“When my grandfather, Robert R. Taira, started his bakery in Hilo, Hawaii, more than 60 years ago, he was dedicated to treating everyone as ohana, the Hawaiian word for family, and sharing the true Aloha Spirit with the community. We are proud to carry on that tradition today,” said Courtney Taira, Consumer Care Lead for King’s Hawaiian. “The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Eastmont Community Center do an extraordinary job of helping families in need in Los Angeles and we are pleased to make a donation to both of these outstanding organizations.”
