PORT ST. LUCIE — The Roma Bakery and Pizzeria at Rio Mar Drive and U.S. 1 in Port St. Lucie has moved. The 38-year-old landmark officially took over Isabella Italian Market at 1624 S.W. Bayshore Blvd in Port St. Lucie on Monday.
The Brancaccio family, which founded Roma in 1973, purchased Isabella Italian Market from Francesco "Frank" Comarda, who built and opened the market with two partners in 2005. Roma closed in late July and was put up for sale in preparation for the move. But Isabella Italian Market has operated normally through the transition and the Isabella staff remains under the new ownership. The phone numbers for Isabella remain the same, and the Roma phones are being transferred to Isabella. The Brancaccios are also maintaining the name Isabella Italian Market.
"We have admired Isabella since it opened," said Albert Brancaccio, a Roma owner-operator and grandson of two of the founders, Albert and Anna Brancaccio. In addition to an extensive deli, a butcher shop and prepared foods counter, Isabella features a number of imported Italian foods and wine. "And it's a five-minute ride from Tradition and around the corner from St. Lucie West," Albert Brancaccio said. It's also convenient for customers near U.S. 1.
