St. Paul, MN Bakery Project On Fast Track

Baldinger hopes for year-end completion of $30 million plant on St. Paul’s east side

Baldinger Bakery is putting a rush order on its new $30 million plant.

Construction only began last month on the project, in St. Paul’s east side, but if all goes according to schedule, the new 144,000-square-foot bakery will be producing hamburger buns and other baked goods by year’s end.

PCL Construction, which is overseeing the project on behalf of the 122-year-old bakery, says the nine-month schedule is tight but doable.

Specifically, the schedule calls for substantial completion Dec. 17, according to PCL project manager Josh Cooper. The ceremonial groundbreaking was Friday, but dirt moving and utility work began in April.

“They are calling it a nine-month schedule, but actually it’s closer to eight and a half,” Cooper said. “So it will be a screamer.”
