Statement From Weston Bakeries Limited RE: WONDER Bread In Canada

TORONTO – Weston Bakeries Limited makes WONDER® bread and is licensed to use the registered trademark in Canada.

Hostess Brands makes Wonder bread and owns the trademark in the United States. Today, Hostess Brands, the bankrupt maker of Twinkies and Wonder bread in the United States, has moved to liquidate its business in the United States after the company had set a Thursday deadline for striking employees to return to work. This is a result of the company's decision to unwind its business and sell off assets if plant operations didn't return to normal levels by 5 p.m. EST Thursday.

Weston Bakeries Limited has no relationship with Hostess Brands' Wonder bread, so Canadians can rest assured that freshly baked Canadian WONDER® bread will continue to be available in stores nationwide. In Canada, WONDER® bread is made with 100 per cent Canadian wheat and is completely free of artificial preservatives and other chemical additives.
