Consumers Feel Loss Of Central Minnesota's Only Flour Mill, Swany White

Co-ops, bakers and others took to Facebook and Twitter to express their sadness and sympathy when Central Minnesota’s only flour mill was destroyed by a fire Tuesday. The Swany White mill in Freeport has been family-owned and operated since 1903. It was known for its organic and unique products that were made with much of the mill’s original equipment.

Oldest Bakery In Texas Is Getting A Facelift

Eilenberger’s Bakery in historic downtown Palestine recently received a facade improvement grant from the Palestine Economic Development Corporation (PEDC). But those improvements run a bit deeper than the facade — Eilenberger’s is on the way to complete restoration. For over a century, Eilenberger’s has been delivering baked goods to area residents from the same location. The bakery has kept the East Texas baking tradition alive by not only providing favorite hometown desserts to area residents, but by shipping East Texas made products worldwide.

Halifax Wholesale Bakery & Cafe Gets Fresh Face

There has been a change in command at the Julien’s Patisserie Bakery & Cafe’s Hydrostone Market location. The deal give’s Duane Malone franchise-like control of the Halifax business, while maintaining close links to the Julien’s in Chester, which is owned by Laura Mulrooney and Didier Julien. Fresh-baked goods from the Chester Julien's site are prepared in the early morning hours and shipped daily to Halifax and are available at various retail locations besides the bakery.
