Up until now dairy has been exempt from country of origin labeling. Newly introduced legislation by an Ohio Senator could now make COOL mandatory for dairy products.

After thousands of submissions as foodies from across the country Six home cooks have been selected to compete for the grand prize title of The Big Cheese. With the “Bid With Your Lid” program Stonyfield Farm is encouraging consumers to cast online votes to support one of the three participating earth-friendly organizations. Each will receive a donation based upon the final tally of votes on December 15th.

Food Marketing To Children Still Under Government Review

The Federal Trade Commission announced it will conduct a follow-up study to its 2008 study of food marketing to children and adolescents. The FTC will gather information from 45 major food, beverage and quick-service restaurant companies that sell food in certain categories, including frozen and chilled desserts and dairy products. FTC is seeking comments regarding the information-collection process before taking further action.
