The results are in and Tennessee cattle producers have voted to increase the assessment they pay to support in-state promotions of beef, announced state Agriculture Commissioner Julius Johnson.

Sandhill Ranchers Beef has re-opened a meatpacking plant at Mullen — closed since 2002 — to crank out the finished product.

Leucadia National Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in National Beef Packing Company, LLC (“National Beef”), one of the largest beef processing companies in the Unites States. National Beef processes, packages and delivers fresh and frozen beef and beef by-products for sale to customers in the U.S. and international markets. The transaction was previously announced on December 5, 2011.
