Last week DNE World Fruit LLC added to its list of packing houses by signing contracts with Premier Citrus Packers, LLC in Vero Beach and John Stephens, Inc. of Frostproof.   Last year Premier Citrus packed approximately 1 million cartons of Florida grapefruit and John Stephens Company packed around 420,000 cartons of Florida citrus with a nice mix of tangerines, navels, juice oranges and grapefruit.

USDA Seeks Comments On Three Proposed Onion Grade Standards

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is requesting comments on proposed revisions to three standards:  U.S. Standards for Grades of Creole Onions, U.S. Standards for Grades of Bermuda-Granex-Grano Type Onions, and U.S. Standards for Grades of Onions (Other Than Bermuda-Granex-Grano and Creole Type).

Serres Sagami Makes Second Major Acquisition In Less Than A Year

Following on its acquisition last November of the 2.1-hectare Savoura production site set up in Ste-Marthe, in the county of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Serres Sagami, which markets its products under the Sagami and Biologico trademarks, recently took possession of a new production site located in Mirabel. This 2.3-hectare site, also a former Savoura location, means that the company can extend its total conventional and organic greenhouse tomato production to almost 9 hectares in Quebec. The growing demand by Quebec consumers for a 100% Quebec product in most food markets has filled the Serres Sagami order book considerably over the past operating year.

Crunch Pak took its sliced apples to the Big Apple today as a team of 20 gave away free samples of fresh product under the company's electronic billboard in New York City's Times Square; packages of FlavorZ, Foodles and DipperZ and 2-ounce mini bags were given away to New Yorkers on the street for four hours.
