Prince William Sound Salmon Harvest At 33.7 Million Fish

In the final preliminary tally of Alaska's 2012 commercial salmon harvest, the catch added up to 123,465,000 fish, with Southeast Alaska harvesters contributing the bulk of the more than two million chum salmon caught for the week ended Sept. 21.

Maine lobster will play a prominent role at a four-day school that draws lobster buyers from around the world. The Lobster Academy runs from Monday through Thursday in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. The dean of the school is Bob Bayer, the head of the University of Maine’s Lobster Institute.

Marianne LaCroix Named As Acting Executive Director Of Maine Lobster Promotion Council

Following the resignation of Dane Somers today as Executive Director of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council, Marianne LaCroix has been appointed as Acting Executive Director for the Maine Lobster Promotion Council by the Board of Directors.  Marianne will serve in that capacity in the interim period until the Maine Legislature weighs a proposal that would create a new lobster marketing entity later this winter.  Marianne has served as Director of Marketing for the Council for the past six years.

Garbo Lobster Buys Former Maine Sardine Cannery

A Connecticut-based lobster company hopes to bring lobster processing back to eastern Maine after submitting the winning bid to buy a defunct lobster-processing plant that previously housed the nation's last full-time sardine cannery.
