Borden Lite Line Gallons And Half Gallons Recalled In Texas And Louisiana

DALLAS — Borden Dairy Company of Texas, LLC announced today it has instituted a voluntary recall of certain Borden Lite Line gallons and half gallons due to the possible presence of undeclared soy, an allergen.

The product is labeled as: Borden Lite Line Gallons and Half Gallons / Codes June 28, July 2 and July 9 / Plant Code 48-0906. The milk was produced in limited quantities at the Borden Dallas facility on three days in the month of June and delivered to retailers in north Texas and northern Louisiana. Borden is notifying retailers to remove any remaining product from the store shelves, which Borden will retrieve.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy may run the risk of an allergic reaction if they consume this product (the reaction could be serious or life-threatening for some consumers). Consumers who have purchased the voluntarily recalled Borden Lite Line gallon or half gallon products should not consume them and are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Borden has not received any consumer complaints regarding this product.

The product is being voluntarily recalled as the vitamin mix added to the milk during processing may contain soy, an allergen. The possible presence of the allergen was not known to Borden until June 20, 2016.

The voluntary recall is being done in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration and the Texas Department of State Health Services. Borden regrets the inconvenience to customers and consumers.
