Lawrence Dairy Inc.’s Future Looking Bleak

NORTH LAWRENCE — A cloud of uncertainty hangs over North Lawrence Dairy Inc., as employees have been informed the chief executive officer of the parent company will be at the plant at 7:30 a.m. Friday to make a major announcement.

The plant, which produces Breyer's yogurt and cottage cheese, has had several rounds of layoffs since Healthy Food Holdings purchased it from CoolBrands in 2007. It is more widely known in the area as the Sealtest or Kraft plant, after two former owners.

The business agent for Teamsters Local 687 said the employees aren't certain about the message they will be hearing Friday morning from Healthy Food Holdings CEO James Nolan. But he confirmed the mood is not optimistic.
