Milk Missing At Some Loblaws Stores Over Weekend

Mechanical and technical problems left some Loblaws grocery stores in the GTA with little or no milk over the weekend.

A handful of stores were still short on $4.29 two-litre cartons of Neilson milk on Monday, leaving consumers left to chose from the $6.19 Organic Meadows brand or the $5.89 P.C. Organics brand.

A mechanical problem on a Neilson Dairy production line last Tuesday was compounded by a failure on the server that processes orders at two plants, causing a shortage of milk at some stores, said Sandy Vassiadis, the director of communications for Saputo, the parent company of Neilson Dairy.

Vassiadis would not say how many stores were affected by the shortage, emphasizing that production and distribution are now “back on track.”
