Public-Private Partnership To Bring Milk To Western PA Food Banks

Business, government and nonprofits will partner to provide fresh milk to 55,000 residents of 11 Southwestern Pennsylvania counties.

“The magnitude of this new strategic partnership is huge,” Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank CEO Lisa Scales said during a Wednesday news conference at the Duquesne-based facility. “Dairy is an item that is rarely donated to us.”

Working with Schneider's Dairy of Whitehall, the food bank will benefit from a state Department of Agriculture program begun in June in 27 Central Pennsylvania counties.
