Red Sox Announce June As 'Calling All Kids' Month Presented By Hood

To celebrate the school year coming to a close, the Boston Red Sox will bring back a month-long celebration of kids by designating June as Calling All Kids month presented by Hood.

As part of the celebration, the club, in partnership with Kumon, the after school self-learning program for kids, will allow children under 14 who have all A or B’s on their most recent report card free entry to Red Sox home games in June. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at Gate E beginning 90 minutes prior to each game. Fans can line up as early as 5 hours before the game. Children providing a valid report card must be accompanied by a full priced adult with a maximum of two complimentary children’s tickets per adult.

Also this month, children from around New England will be selected to take the field with the team before each home game. Little league teams, softball teams, and kids camps will be among the groups selected to take the field with players. On June X, the little league team of marathon bombing victim Martin Richard will take the field.

Fans who would like to enter their child for an opportunity to take the field with players in June can participate in an online contest on Instagram. Parents can share a photo of their child, age 5-12, showing their best baseball game face using the hashtag #SoxGameFace. Eight children will be selected to take the field with a player before the Tuesday, June 25 game. Visit redsox.com/instagramrules for the official contest rules.

Additionally, one lucky youngster will be selected to be the guest DJ in the scoreboard control room during Red Sox batting practice each home game. Parents with kids over 10 years old can email twitter@redsox.com with the game they plan to attend to be entered for the chance to win.

For the opportunity to meet a Red Sox player in June, fans can submit a “Vine” video to the @redsox twitter account showing their child’s batting stance in Red Sox gear or an impersonation of a current Red Sox players stance or wind up and delivery. Ten children will be selected to meet a Red Sox player on June 9 or 29.

Also this month, a child who has overcome adversity or made a contribution to the community will be honored during the third inning of each game at Fenway Park as part of the “Child-Hood Heroes” program. The club will also extend reporting duties to kids on June 30 at a pre-game press conference with Red Sox players.
