Refresh Your Summer With GOT MILK?

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Summer is just around the corner and Californians are already thinking about how they can beat the heat, while also indulging in fun, tasty treats. This summer, two-time National Barista Champion Heather Perry has partnered with the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creator of GOT MILK?, to give drink enthusiasts another reason to enjoy lattes while refreshing their palates. Perry's summer homemade lattes cost pennies on the dollar compared to drinks from national coffee chains. Plus, Perry offers kid-friendly, "espresso-free" recipes so that the whole family can enjoy her unique drinks. From a red velvet frappe to a tiramisu shake, all these recipes have one cool ingredient in common, milk!

"My new summer drink recipes are flavorful, refreshing and easy-to-make," says the national barista champ. "While the recipes are decadent, they all include milk which is essential to build strong bones, muscles and teeth."

Perry, a California native, says people don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on an espresso machine to make the perfect latte. She says making a strong brewed coffee with a coffee press or moka pot is all that aficionados need. Plus, people can easily find the basic ingredients such as coffee, chocolate and of course, milk in their kitchens. Available exclusively on www.gotmilk.com/recipes, Perry shares her favorite summer drink recipes with Californians which include:

•Red Velvet Frappe – Young and old love red velvet cupcakes! Perry's drinkable version of this velvety delight takes minutes to make. Just blend milk, espresso and cocoa with ice cream and enjoy!

•Banana Fosters Frappe – Taste the Caribbean in a mochalicious banana iced blend. Simply combine milk, espresso, brown sugar, butter, vanilla ice cream and banana. Blend with ice and top with whipped cream and banana slices.

•Tiramisu Shake – This multi-layered richness will give you the quick pick me up you'll need to carry you through the longer days of summer. Combine milk with cool espresso, Mascarpone cheese and vanilla ice cream, layer with whipped cream, dust with cocoa and top with ladyfingers for the perfect summer Italian treat!

•Cooling Coconut Cream – For a tropical paradise escape, combine espresso, simple syrup, milk, coconut milk and blend with ice.

"Perry's refreshing summer drinks are a great way to keep cool through triple digit weather," says Steve James, executive director of the CMPB. "Perry's creativity shines through in the recipes, giving Californians another enjoyable reason to drink milk."

About the CMPB
The California Milk Processor Board was established in 1993 to make milk more competitive and increase milk consumption in California. Awareness of GOT MILK? is over 90% nationally and it is considered one of the most important and successful campaigns in history. GOT MILK? is a federally registered trademark that has been licensed by the national dairy boards since 1995. The CMPB's Spanish-language campaign began in 1994 using the tagline "Familia, Amor y Leche" (Family, Love and Milk). The TOMA LECHE (Drink Milk) campaign replaced it in 2006, following a growing trend in Hispanic food advertising that uses wit and humor to reach audiences. GOT MILK? gifts and recipes can be viewed at www.gotmilk.com and www.tomaleche.com. The CMPB is funded by all California milk processors and administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
